How this works

Time is everything. Make yours count.

You know a great game when you see one.

Nobody has to explain it. You feel it building.

A team trails by twenty-five in the third quarter. The other sideline starts celebrating. Then the trailing team scores, and scores again, and doesn't stop until they've won.

Two teams trade the lead three times in the last two minutes. One scores with thirteen seconds left and thinks it's over. Thirteen seconds turns out to be plenty.

Ten seconds left, no timeouts, sixty yards to go. One catch at the sideline, one missed tackle, and the stadium goes from silence to bedlam.

That's football at its best: tension that builds and builds, then breaks all at once.

And you know a dud.

The league's best offense meets its best defense, and everyone expects a heavyweight fight. The first snap sails past the quarterback for a safety. The defense wins every down after that, and by halftime nobody's asking who wins. You keep watching anyway, waiting for a spark that never comes.

We watch every game so you only watch the great ones.

What we look for

Plays that swing it. A pick-six. A fourth-down gamble. A punt return nobody saw coming. The plays you rewind.

Doubt that lasts. The lead changes hands. The underdog claws back. You call the game, and the last play proves you wrong.

Both teams in it. Blowouts rarely thrill anyone, unless your team does the blowing out.

The grades

We rank every game like a tier list: S at the top, then A through D.

An S means the same thing in September as it does in January, so a dull weekend never earns a fake S.

Your teams

Tap the and pick the teams you love, as many as you like. We know your team's games mean more to you, so we give you a ★ Fan score for them. Our job is still to save you from wasting your time.

Say your teams are Seattle and Dallas, and Dallas plays Chicago.

A close one? Win or lose, that's the game you want to see, so it moves way up your list.

Chicago runs away with it, or nothing happens all afternoon? We leave it alone. We won't make you sit through that.

Dallas's offense catches fire and torches Chicago? Rough if you're a Chicago fan. For you, it's a highlight reel, so it moves up a little. A great game between two other teams still ranks higher.

When Seattle plays Dallas, you can't lose. A close one might be your game of the season. A runaway still gets a small bump.

One catch: when a game gets lopsided, a fan score can hint at who ran away with it. Close games never give anything away. If you'd rather not risk it, keep your rankings Unspoiled and choose the game you want to watch.

What you'll never see here

No scores. No winners. No margins. Only whether it's worth your time.

The viewing guide is the one exception, and it asks first. It shows you where the good part starts, never how it ends.
